Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate VC-IP is an esterified vitamin C derivative. It is converted into vitamin C in the skin and exerts its activity, making its whitening and anti-inflammatory effects more significant. This is because oil-soluble ingredients have better transdermal absorption than water-soluble ingredients.
This ingredient was approved by Japan in 2006 as Quasi-drug Active, and is also a whitening agent approved by South Korea.
Due to its good stability and transdermal absorption performance, VC-IP is widely used in cosmetics and skin care products.
There are many types of vitamin C derivatives, the most common ones are 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid (EAC), vitamin C phosphate, ascorbyl glucoside (AA-2G), ascorbyl palmitate (AA6P), and ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate (VC-IP).
