Arbutin can be extracted from the leaves of bearberry and is a naturally occurring hydroquinone derivative.
It is a bioactive hydrophilic polyphenol, including different types according to its chemical structure: alpha arbutin powder, β-arbutin and deoxyarbutin.
In comparison, α-arbutin has the advantages of good stability and excellent whitening ability. Therefore, it is more widely used.
