Lycopene is a carotenoid that cannot be synthesized by the human body and must be ingested through diet. Lycopene is found in ripe tomatoes, as well as watermelon, grapefruit and other fruits and vegetables.
Ripe tomatoes contain 4.4 mg of lycopene/100g, and watermelons contain 4.53 mg/100g. Lycopene powder has a better ability to scavenge free radicals than vitamin C and vitamin E.
