Chondroitin sulfate, CS is a type of sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG), which is essentially an acidic mucopolysaccharide. It is an important natural biomacromolecule that exists in bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons of animal tissues.
Industrialized CS is mainly derived from cow, chicken and shark cartilage. Chondroitin sulfate has good biocompatibility, hydrophilicity and biodegradability.
